Prithviraj Chauhan's Love Story and my personal comments
3 Apr, 2025
Why haven't I learned from history is one of the most irritating questions someone can ask me. I had a step mother, but I expected her to treat me differently and then someone asked me at the ripe of age of 51, didn't you learn from "The Ramayana".
No, I didn't. I thought I am a commoner and these stuff only happen to Raja Maharaja's.
During this tour/pilgrimage of North India, one thing I have learnt is that the "North Indians" from the cow belt in particular who speak chaste Hindi are great orators. Remember Atal Bihari Vajpayee was from the cowbelt area of Madhya Pradesh. They have only one weakness, they cannot speak English even if you put a gun to their heads.
This epic tale is from Chand Bardai's Prithviraj Raso. Though a google search will tell you that this is perhaps a fictionalised and glorified story, but the cow belt swears to its authenticity claiming the British bastardised all history. The narrative remains part of bardic literature and is widely regarded as a romanticized legend rather than historical fact. Chand Bardai himself appears as the PM of Chauhan in the tale.
Prithviraj Chauhan falls in love with Princess Samyogita
Prithviraj Chauhan, also known as Prithviraj III or Rai Pithora, was a legendary Rajput king from the Chauhan dynasty who ruled the kingdom of Sapadalaksha, with his capital at Ajmer, during the 12th century. His reign is marked by valor, romance, and resistance against foreign invasions, making him one of the most celebrated figures in Indian history.
