The idea of nation and global citizenship is fairly recent. But before there were nationalists and global citizens, we used to all live in communities and tribes. Community was so important to us humans for most of history that to be outcast was a punishment worse than death.

Earlier, when someone committed a crime, they weren’t put to death or sent to jail. They were just banished from the community.

Individual happiness is a CIA brainwashing propaganda

The concept of individual happiness or wealth is a new concept introduced by the modernism movement which was probably a CIA conspiracy so that collective action could be sabotaged. Before modernism when people ran into wealth they generally threw a big communal feast, Now we think of a solo indulgence or a family vacation. Now we think of mutual funds of fixed deposits. Individually we are so self-absorbed and this has made all of us unhappy. When those solo indulgences and vacations come to an end we have return to our empty lives. > Today wealth builds walls between you and me, we are fearful that our kith & kin might demand or someone in the know might take advantage of us.

Wealth is not just material stuff

Wealth is walkable roads, wealth is breathable clean air, wealth is cultural shows, wealth is busking musicians, wealth is in kavi sammelan. Wealth is in literature. Only communities can create this intangible wealth since this is not profitable for a corporation or government.
